FSA Mobile Fresh Awarded 2014 NBC Universal 21st Century Solutions Grant

Moreno Valley, CA (Dec 12, 2014) - Family Service Association's (FSA) year-old social enterprise MOBILE FRESH, a grocery store on wheels has been selected one of 30 winners of the NBC Universal 21st Century Solutions grant challenge. NBC Universal and its Owned Stations awarded $1.2 million in grants to non-profits advancing innovative solutions through high-impact initiatives in their local communities. FSA representing the Los Angeles market and Girls Write Now representing New York will each take home $100,000. Twelve non-profits located within NBC markets in Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas-Fort Worth, San Francisco, Washington D.C., South Florida, San Diego and Connecticut will receive $50,000 and sixteen recipients were awarded $25,000.

61 Homebound Seniors In Chino Hills Receive " More Than A Meal"

Moreno Valley, CA (Oct 28, 2014) - The lack of access to quality, affordable food is an issue for 22% of Inland Empire families. This is primarily the case for homebound seniors, individuals without adequate transportation to a supermarket and residents with low to moderate incomes. One way that Family Service Association addresses this challenge in Chino Hills is through its Senior Nutrition congregate meals program, where daily hot meals are provided at the Chino Senior Center. FSA is hoping to increase its meal totals from the current 61 to 114 through support of a Community Development Block Grant from the City of Chino Hills.

Fall Community Festival Celebrates Kids and Families

Moreno Valley, CA (OCT 20, 2014) - A FOUNDATION FOR KIDS and FAMILY SERVICE ASSOCIATION Child Development Centers are collaborating to sponsor "Fall Festival 2014" celebrating kids and families in Riverside. The event will feature face painting, a pumpkin patch, Cakewalk, Giant Slide, gifts and toys for kids, clothes giveaways, health screenings and much more. "FALL FESTIVAL 2014" will take place at CM School Supply, 4155 Van Buren Avenue at California Street in Riverside 92503.

A FOUNDATION FOR KIDS mission is to support children's agencies and youth organizations that serve abused and at-risk children in Southern California. Toward this goal, they sponsor a number of family-oriented events that raise thousands of dollars for kids' causes. FSA operates ten (10) Child Development Centers, located in Moreno Valley, Riverside, Rubidoux, Hemet and Cabazon. Each Center provides a well-balanced curriculum with emphasis on children's social/emotional skills in an enriched cognitive environment. The CDCs also sponsor an annual professional development conference each spring focused on child development and learning.

Moreno Valley, CA (Oct 6,2014) - Imagine choosing between having a meal and keeping a roof over your head. In Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, 22.3% of families suffer from food insecurity. On a monthly basis they make the choice between eating and paying the electric bill, between having dinner and taking medication, paying the rent, or pursuing an education. Seeing to tackle the problem of food insecurity in the region, Family Service Association is launching "Ending Hunger in Our Neighborhoods" a 21-day fundraising campaign from October 10-31, using the online crowdsourcing platform Indiegogo.
